Christmas as 2...

It is crazy to think that this is the last Christmas as a family of 2...

I can't wait for what next year and the excitement it will bring. In the mean time we spent the weekend up with David's parents and kept this year pretty low key and simple.

he liked his "cereal"... as well as the fancy fishing vest that was in the box!

I had to take a picture of the first present that David ever wrapped for me in the 6 years we have been married. Its usually in a bag or he has someone else wrap it for him! It turned out to be a video camera which I am super excited for!

Kurt enjoyed his fuzzy crocs even though he hadn't had all his morning coffee... and mom took a break from cooking to open gifts.

Half Way!!!

BABY GIRL!!

20 weeks
*looks like my shirt color will remain the same... I am excited for a mini me!

*I had gone back and forth as to whether its a boy or girl- and felt very unsure as to what you would be
*daddy has thought boy up until the last few days it would be a boy. He has been googling cute unique girl names and thought it would be a girl- or maybe he was just mentally preparing himself...
*finally felt the baby move a 2 days before I hit 20 wks. I was driving into work and felt some pressure and some obvious movements where the seat belt hits lower down in my belly. I have felt you move lots since then!

*it feels way more real now that I have felt movement
*only gained one pound back since my first weight loss... wonder how long that will last.
* your dad picked out your first piece of clothing it was a little dress with flowers on it. I don't want to forget how he was when we walked into the baby store. He walked in, looked at the boy section, took a deep breath then went straight to look at little girl clothes. He was very opinionated about what he liked and I know he is going to be a great father!

14, 16 & 18 Weeks

Weeks 14-16
*The magical 2nd trimester meant no more morning sickness or should we say anytime sickness!!
*kind of a weird period of time were I feel good, don't really look pregnant and nothing is really happening
*I look smaller in my 14wk pic then I do in my 12 wk pic- maybe I was sticking it out...or bloated??
*have to pee at least once a night which is not very exciting
*struggling to drink the recommended amount of water

 Weeks 16-18

*doctor appointment again showed everything going well- once again a good kid and got the heart beat right away!

*starting to feel like I am looking pudgy not pregnant, but it depends on if I just ate or not

*I haven't gained any weight so the doc told me I needed to gain a few pounds in the next few weeks

FINALLY got to tell my family:

We went for Thanksgiving and arrived late Wednesday night and both David and I were super ancy and couldn't wait any longer to share the news. We had our fall pics taken along with the dog pics, so we set it up to do a slide show for them. Mom, Dad, Madi and Morg were all standing around it watching the show. The slides started and right away Morg caught on and mouthed to me- your pregnant?- I nodded yes and we waited for the others to catch on. The second time it went through again I said I would show them my favorite and pulled up the dog picture. They looked at it some more then it clicked for my mom and she freaked out yelling- your pregnant?- then it clicked for dad and after all that Madi said- hu?. We had to say again I was pregnant- then she got it! I wish I would have video taped their reactions it was priceless! They are all super excited and can't wait to start spoiling this little peanut.

On Thanksgiving grandma & grandpa Baer came to join us for our feast and I got to share the news with them also. We did the slide show again for them and after two times again I pulled up the dog pic. They stared at it for a while, I asked them if they read the signs, I read them to them and I said it multiple ways in hopes they would catch on. I finally had to spell it out for them, grandma freaked out and is super excited as well as grandpa. I really wish I had her reaction on tape!! I was so excited to finally share the news with everyone else and get it out in the open.



 Weeks 18-20

*one pair of pants are getting tight- I wore them unbuttoned with a belt- awkward! :)

*feel like I am getting big, but everyone is getting mad at me because they tell me I don't look prego

*can't wait to find out whether this peanut is a boy or girl- I haven't bought a thing and it's killing me!

*everyone but grandma Baer says it will be a boy

*besides the constant peeing and starting to become uncomfortable sleeping its all going great

Now that the word is out...

Its time for catch up!

Weeks 4-11
*super nervous that once I went to the doctors they would say I wasn't really pregnant
*took several pregnancy tests just to make sure I was still pregnant before going to the doctor
*our first appointment we got an ultrasound done to show us our little peanut- 9wks
*both speech less when they pulled up the screen to show us there really was someone growing in there. I always thought that at this point it was just a mass floating around, but I was surprised to know that it moves like crazy!
*morning sickness kicked in -9wks. It was pretty easy going and I only puked twice, I mainly gagged on what I was eating and had to spit it back out before puking. David joked that we already have a baby that pukes up its food why do we need another!
*I am always hungry and get nauseous when I was starting to get hungry so I always had food with me in my purse, car and desk at work
*haven't had any changes in my body except for the enhancement up top! ;)
*starting weight is 128- I was told I need to gain 15-20lbs. Here's to hoping I can stick to that!

Weeks 12-14
*12 wk appointment everything again checked out great and I got to hear the heart beat. The funny thing is the first time she touched the machine to my belly she found the heart beat right away and I told the doc we have a good kid already- she just laughed!
*I weighed in a few pounds lighter then at 9 wks so they said to just watch things and don't loose any more.
*There aren't very many things that make me sick except for the guys that smoke at work make me want to hurl on their shoes for even thinking of standing within 50 ft of me.
*went through 3 kinds of prenatals- ended up with gummies- after the horse pill fish smelling ones and the 2 pill combo where I could get the first one down then gagged on the second
It has killed me to wait to tell anyone and finally got to share the news!
Telling David's parents:
We had traveled to California to visit friends and while we were gone David's parents took care of the dogs. We met up with his mom to pick up the dogs and showed his mom the dog picture. She said it was super cute and said the dogs were sitting still and then she noticed the signs around their necks. She went speech less and then the excitement kicked in! Kurt wasn't with her so we emailed him the picture and waited... we didn't hear from him until the following day. Mom went home and asked if he had seen the picture and the first thing he said- those cant be their dogs and how did they get Daisy to sit still? Then mom read him the signs and he said- yeah? and she ended up having to say I was pregnant. Then it clicked, he is super excited and said he was going on radio silence for fear he would spill the beans to anyone. He thinks that he knew a few weeks before when we had visited, he said I had a glow and he was suspicious when I said nothing new was going on.

For Thanksgiving this year we traveled to Utah to be with my family and I couldn't have been any more excited for this trip! We finally got to see them and share our good news- which I will share that story later. We spent time shopping, eating a delicious turkey meal and what I think is becoming a family favorite- bowling. We were major slackers this year and didn't take any pictures of our happenings. We did however do some updated family pictures that hopefully mom will share soon.
I am so thankful for my amazing, wonderful and patient husband who has put up with baby talk constantly! He has been a great support when no one knew and he was the only one I had to turn to and I couldn't be more thankful. My family is a great support system and stands behind us no matter where our life takes us. Last but not lest I am thankful for this tiny human that is growing inside and will undoubtedly bless our lives.
It's not enough but THANK YOU to everyone involved in our life!

Forever changed!!

The day that changed our lives forever!

September 1st 2012

7 am wide awake... have to pee... tell my self go back to sleep...

8 am wide awake... not ready yet... tell my self to go back to sleep... I really have to pee!

9 am oh goodness... I really have to pee, but David is still asleep!!

9:15 Oh good he is up... GO time!

Shaking.... can't pee now... deep breath... you can do it ... done!

Hurry and shut it in the drawer... act like I am busy in the bathroom...

5 minutes later trying to convince myself to look... you can do it!... No!... Yes!

Open the drawer with eyes closed shaking as I reach for it...

Ok!.... deep breath... open eyes...1...2...3...Ok!...1....2...3!!

Pregnant!?! Heart starts racing and can't stop smiling!!

Shut it in the drawer... and wait...can't sit still...

4 hours later... after waiting for the Notre Dame game to get over...

I can't give this news if he is mad about the game....they won... my wait was over....

"Babe you better enjoy this football season because next year it's gonna be a whole lot different"

"Oh yeah"

"Yeah...cause I'm Pregnant!!"

"No your not!"

"Yeah I am!"

"Your bad at lying..."

"NO I really am- you want to see?!"

...Big smiles and lots of laughter... I went into the bathroom and brought the test in for him to see it...

"I need to watch some more football and let it sink in!"

There has been lots of shock and disbelief that this is happening! It happened a lot sooner then expected because it generally takes much longer to get the birth control out of your system, but apparently not for us!! It is still sinking in and I was definitely more excited than David was in the beginning, but slowly he is getting more excited as the days go by. This secret has been killing me to keep it in and I am super excited for this little one that will be joining us in May 2013!!



Cheer Cheer for Ol' Notre Dame

*Disclaimer- this was written by the wife of a die hard fan and will most likely not do this experience enough justice with just my side of the story- you have been warned :)*

David can't even begin to explain how excited he was for this trip and how it was the BEST day ever!! It was a fast weekend, but so worth the smiles on David and Leo's faces the whole weekend. This was something he had dreamed of doing for almost his whole life. My job on the trip was to keep track of everything and be the official picture taker of all the smiles! Once again my side of the story won't do this trip enough justice, but here we go....

Day 1-

We picked up Leo in Denver and rushed to the airport because we were running late due to traffic and David claims my lack of rush prior to leaving. We ran from security all the way to the gate and barely made our flight. They were calling our names on the intercom as we ran up, we made it and that's all that matters! You better believe I would have never lived it down if we would have missed the flight seeing as I was trailing behind them. 

Once we made it to Chicago and got set up with our rental car we stopped at Giordinos- which was highly recommended to get the famous deep dish Chicago style pizza. It definitively lived up to the hype and was worth the stop in my book.

Once we were stuffed to the brim we made a scary and also gut busting drive through the ghetto. We were the only white people around and the amount of "we're gonna die", "don't look around just look straight" and "drive faster don't get stopped at the light" was very amusing. I was no doubt scared, but laughing so hard at the two it was so funny! We continued on the road to South Bend, Indiana home of NOTRE DAME. We went straight to the campus upon arrival and the smiles began!!

We didn't realize that we lost not only one hour traveling to Chicago, but two once we crossed into Indiana. I had so lovingly moved up our flights thinking we could make it in time to do a tour of the tunnel the players run out of. We sadly missed the tour so we ended up walking around the campus and checking things out. We did however get to go the pep rally that night and got to see the players and coach Kelly. It was the senior game so they did highlights on the captains which was really cool.

After the pep rally we walked around some more and soaked up the atmosphere of Notre Dame. We found Leo some official swag so he would fit in at the game and don't you worry David made sure we were prepared well in advance! I loved how excited he was about everything and it definitely rubbed off on me!

Day 2- 

We were on campus bright and early to soak up all game day had to offer. We wandered through all the tail-gaters and decided the next time we came we would be a part of that crowd. The campus was cool to walk around and check out all the older buildings and the atmosphere was exciting.

 Notre Dame stadium where we lined up to watch the players walk. We have tons of pictures, but my task was to get one of #5 Manti Te'o who is David's current favorite player. The bag pipers at the beginning were pretty cool as well.

GAME TIME!!!

We were some of the first people into the stadium once they opened the gates and we made our way to our seats. The stadium was older than I had expected and we had some nice wooden seats to enjoy the rest of the night on. Leo was super excited about his spot because it had a big hole right were he sat. As things got going the stadium became packed and the atmosphere was super exciting. We also had some great people around that made the experience that much better! Now for the pictures...

We hung out in the stadium for a little while collecting souvenir cups people left and you better believe those are the cups that David uses all the time! We also waited outside of the stadium in hopes of seeing some players or someone cool. There were a few players that made their exit, but after a while we decided it was time to go. We made one last walk around the stadium to soak it all in and then we made our way back to the hotel. 

Day 3-

We were able to stop at the football hall of fame on the way out of South Bend. It was interesting to see all the different eras of football and the highlights through out the years.

In the hall of fame they had a few things you could test your skills on and you better believe it became a challenge as to who was better! I personally think David did best at this...

After we were done playing around and checking things out we made our way back to Chicago. We drove into downtown, but quickly realized we weren't cut out for the city. We ended up going to the airport where we had some down time to kill and don't worry we made the flight with plenty of time! :) I was told multiple time on this trip that it was going to have to become an annual trip and how awesome it all was! I am sure I am safe to say that this weekend was some of the BEST days of his life- right behind marrying me! ;)
