Little bit of not much!

So, we haven't been up to much lately besides our usual routine of work, work and more work. Although we have had some things thrown in the mix lately. We went to spend the weekend with David's parents and while there we did go to a downhill bike competition with Kurt. It was all but exciting for me, but of course those 2 were all about just looking at all the bikes and wondering around. David wants to get a new downhill bike, so he used it as a good time to do some research! I used it as a good time to soak up some sun!
Also, while we were up for the weekend papa Chet came over to do some fishing with the boys. Sadly I forgot to get a pic of them all fishing, but thought about it too late! It was some good bonding time for him and David seeing as papa isn't feeling to well. Papa has been dealing with prostate cancer and bone cancer as well for the past seven years and it has definitely taken a toll on him in the last little while. We always love when we get a chance to see him and enjoy his company. Hopefully this last round of chemo goes well because we would love to have him around for a long while. We love him!

Other than that we have started to make some new friends from our ward and I love that we all get along and can hang out together with everyone at the same time!

Life is going good and hopefully we will have some changes within the next year to add a little bit more excitement to our lives!

Exciting changes!

Lots of exciting things have been happening around the Valance house!
#1 For the past few years we have always come home, drove into the driveway and parked the car, then got out of the car, lifted the garage door, then got back into the car, then drove the car in and parked, then got out of the car and went and shut the garage door again. Then all of that in reverse when we left the house. Sound fun? NO- but have no fear all that has changed! We now have a garage door opener! I am super excited, you never know how much your missing out on until you have to manually open the garage rain, snow or shine! YIPEEE!! #2 The picture says it all....

David is in heaven! Can you see it now? Duke or Notre Dame playing on that big screen! LOL I came home the other day to find that monster sitting on top of that little TV- cant blame him it was a good find for a couple hundred bucks! Good news is- I don't have to squint to read the TV guide now! YIPEEE!!

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday to me! This was one of the best birthdays I have had in a while! I got to celebrate for the whole weekend! David had everything planned and would not tell me anything- which usually isn't the case. Friday night he took me to Rodizio grill which was really good. They have guys that come around to the table with different meats on skewers and they just cut you off how ever much you want. They had pork, chicken and even grilled pineapple (my favorite). The best one of the night was chicken heart! NOT! We both got brave and at least tried just one, David ate the whole thing and I ate a quarter of it after seeing his reaction! Over all it was delicious and we both were super full when we left! After we were done David wanted to drive all over town, which after dinner all I wanted to do was go home and sit on the couch! We instead got home and David started acting funny and keeping an eye on his phone then said we needed to go for a walk. I of course was suspicious, but went along for the walk. When we got home he went to make a phone call and told the person on the other line that we were home and they could stop by at any time! Now at this point I was super confused as to who would be coming over around 11pm. David wouldn't crack or give me any clues of course. Then the door bell rang and I opened it to find.... my family!!! I was super surprised and excited to see them! David had planned with mom to come for the weekend and spend my birthday with me! It was a great surprise for sure- I would have never guessed that they would drive up all night to see me!On Saturday we spent the day shopping till we dropped! I actually found some clothes for myself which is a rarity and also a duvet cover and sheets for the bed. Now we look a bit more grown up at least! Next on my list is an actual bed set! We had lots of fun just hanging out and shopping the day away and they enjoyed actually having some sun and not wearing their winter coats back in UT.

We drove mom's car around the whole time and us 3 plus David were all smashed in the backseat! Good thing we had a camera to kill some time!

For Sunday, my actual birthday we went to the Denver Zoo. It was lots of fun and enjoyed being able to have my fam there with me to have some fun. The only thing was that the animals seemed to all be sleeping or hiding in the shade out of the sun. Madi was the official photographer and once she gets her pics uploaded I will have them to show. We did lots and lots of walking around and I ended up with a boo boo. Good thing mom was there to get me all better with a Garfield band-aid! It was a nice blister from my flip flops! Over all it was a good day at the zoo which was on my list of things I wanted to do this summer any ways. After the zoo we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, which was good as always! They of course sang Happy Birthday, but at least this year I did not have to get on a saddle!

We wore out poor David with all the fun! :)

On Monday morning we ate breakfast then the fam had to get on the road! :( I enjoyed having them stay for the weekend and was sad to see them go. It was a great weekend and was super excited that they wanted to spend their long weekend with me! I love you all and thank you for staying!

David did a great job on Birthday plans this year, now I don't know how he is going to top this one! LOL Thanks for a great weekend everyone!!

I have a new love...

YOGURT! Now usually I don't care for it too much, but last night I fell in love!
It makes for a great food fight! Yeah- we got in a food fight in the house that may or may not have been started by me! haha! I do have to mention that I was eating a go-gurt until he grabbed it and attempted to squirt it in my mouth all at once! (so technically I say he started it-he says otherwise) David was laying on the couch looking super comfy until... he got some go-gurt smeared all over his face! Then it was on as I ran into the kitchen to get some more and attempt to stop him from getting some from the fridge. Of course my attempt did not work at all and I think I was on the loosing end. With the go-gurt you can get a good squirt from a distance and that is what he did as well as smearing it all in my hair to create a great rats nest look. It made for a fun night! The best part of the night was that my loving husband cleaned up the kitchen while I showered. Now that's true love- even though I may or may not have started it he cleaned it so I didn't have to! Good times!!

Is it really MAY?

I woke up this morning and had to wonder if I had gone back a few months in time! It is the middle of May is it not? What HAPPENED!!

Mother's Day!

"A mother is someone that can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take"

Mothers are amazing people and I think that quote says it all! I love my mothers with all my heart and cant express how thankful I am for both! I miss not being able to see my maja whenever I want to. It is hard to know that I cant go over and just talk, but thank goodness for phones! Hopefully they both know how much I love them! :)

For mothers day this year we went to spend the weekend with David's mom. She didn't want to do anything fancy or go out at all. So, instead me and her went into Denver to find a dress for a Gala she is attending next week and while down there we went to get pedicures. After all your toes have to look good too! We had just a day with us girls shopping till we dropped! We both were so tired driving back up the mountain once we finally were in the car longer than 10 minutes and not shopping. It reminded me of the many times we had all day shopping excursions with my mom!
The next day she didn't want to do anything, but go fishing! So, we packed up and went into the canyon to hike down to the river and fish away. The fishing wasn't very good, but at least she got a few bites unlike the rest of us!

This is me at the end of the day walkin' down the railroad tracks to avoid going through the freezing cold river- even though I do look rather cute in my waders! ;)Did you notice how I am all decked out and David is in shorts! He is crazy that water was cold enough I could feel it through my waders, long johns and my thick snowboard socks! CRAZY BOY! I hope that both mothers had a wonderful day and know that they are greatly LOVED! HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Big Horn Trip...

This trip is looking like it may become a yearly vacation! We went to Montana with David's family this last weekend. This was a birthday trip for Kurt and also his brother Ron since they don't get together to often. We started out the trip with papa Chet staying the night with us on Tuesday night and then packing up the next morning and starting the trek! We drove him all over town doing last minute errands and then we were off- good thing he was patient cause I was starting to go nuts!Tank and me got bored in the back seat driving for so long! We only drove to Douglas, Wyoming to papa's brother Uncle Ron's house which was only a few hours away. He took care of us overnight until we left the next morning to meet mom & Kurt in Casper. There we had a long stop at Sams Club and enjoyed a long lay over in Walmart! Don't you worry, Kurt found some black storage boxes for $2.50 and you better believe he cleaned out there stock! Gotta love him! So, after our long stop we got on the road again and continued on to Montana. We got to stay in a nice little cabin with an awesome view of the river. It was high class compared to our trailer homes we stayed in last year! haha We got in some good quality time of doing nothing! We met Kurt's parents (Denny and Shirley) and his brother (Ron) and his 2 kids (Cort & Cambell) up there as well. The next day we were there it rained and poured all day and was really cold. Me, David, Kurt and Denny wussed out and didn't join the crazies on the river, but David and Kurt joined Ron- half way down the river after everyone else bailed! Did I mention that David couldn't wait to enjoy his birthday gift to himself?! You cant really see it, but you can enjoy how cute he looks in his waders! He bought a new fly rod before we left and he was as giddy as school boy to use it! While David was wading out in the water fishing he slipped and went completely under water filling his waders with water! Luckily Ron had some extra clothes for him to borrow for the rest of the float down the river! He was definitely frozen for the rest of the float down the river! That night we also celebrated Kurt's and Ron's birthday and I made the cake! Everyone LOVED IT! They couldn't believe that it was a box cake and super moist! Mom would be proud!!

We enjoyed the rest of the night just hanging out! HaHa hopefully the Birthday boy Kurt doesn't mind that this is the only pic I have of him! The next day was so nice and warm we floated all day on the river. David rowed me, Tank and Ron's 2 kids in one boat and everyone else was in the other 2 boats. We got to rent 2 kids for the day which was quite the adventure! I didn't catch a single fish the whole time because I was helping the 2 little ones try to fish and tried not to get caught myself! Cort was probably the most dangerous because he wanted to do most of the fishing! Cambell enjoyed helping David row the boat for the first half of the day. Dont they look cute together! While she was captaining the boat David caught a few fish and then Cort rowed the second half of the day. David again caught a few more fish as well! Everyone that fly fished caught fish the whole time unlike us spin fisherman! And of course when you can't catch fish why not have a photo shoot! There of course were lots more pics taken and I have put in a request to get those, so once I do I will add some more!

Overall it was a good day of catchin' fish as well as a few sun rays! I love being able to get together and just hang out! Of course the fun had to end and the next morning we packed up to leave and drive home!
We got to come home and unpack and wash everything and then repack everything for David to go out of town Monday morning for the week for work. It was a busy weekend for sure!
