Toes in the water, butt in the sand of....

CABO SAN LUCAS MEXICO!!!!!
Thursday we spent the night in Denver at a hotel near the airport so that we could be ready for our early flight. We made our early morning shuttle and had plenty of time before we had to board the plane for the first leg of the trip. We were all just happy to be our on way, and when we landed in Salt Lake it was a rush to get to on our next flight. We were some of the last ones on the flight, but we made it!! When we finally arrived in Mexico we made a stop at Costco to get some food and drinks before heading to our resort. I know for sure I would never survive down there if I had to drive- they're crrazzy!! The resort we stayed at was Pueblo Bonita Sunset Beach and it was beautiful. We were on the other side of all the touristy filled resorts and the Pacific side which meant the beach wasn't crowded.

Ahhhh..... so nice! Of course the reason why there is no one at the beach is because they highly recommend to NOT swim due to the under tow. So, David and Kurt decided they wanted to fish from shore to see what they could catch. What happens? David crawls up on some  rocks just off the shore and slips and falls dislocating his shoulder.
First day of vaca... what was he thinking??
Day two we went fishing with an outfit called Red Rum.
David, me, Lisa, Denny and Kurt were all aboard ready to fish. The crew was really good and honest about what we would be able to catch which was really nice.
Everyone wanted to catch durato and tuna, but instead we caught spanish macral.

These fish were mean looking and had a wicked set of teeth. Lisa caught a trumpet fish- it was pretty funny looking.
On our way in we had an unexpected visitor at our boat. He just popped right up waiting for a fish to be dropped and if that was enough a second one came up to take his spot, but lost that fight. It scared me so bad because I was looking through the camera taking pictures and BAM there he was right in my face!
It was really cool to see that big animal just hanging out at the back of the boat. When we got to the dock there was a couple seals hanging out for the fish scraps- they wanted it so bad that one almost came up on the dock.
It was a fun day out on the water and that night we ate some delicious fish tacos!
The next day we hung out at the pool and the beach, fishing and soaking in the sun. We then made our way into town to do some exploring and shopping. It's always interesting to me just to soak in the different culture and the way they do things. We ate at a taco stand in town where David indulged in this...

Sunday we also went into town and went to the beach on the Sea of Cortez side. The beaches were full of activities to do and David and mom decided to try stand up paddle boarding. They definitely learned its way  harder than it looks. We hung out on the beach for a while then wandered through town.

Fishing again was on the agenda- this day was no bueno!! Sea sick and tired was all I got! Well, besides some good pictures. David, me, Lisa, Kurt, Denny and Audrey were on board for this trip. We got a discount through the resort and the crew was not good at all. They told us we were fishing for anything that would bite. We only had one bite the whole day and David got the chance to real in a marlin and we even saw it jump out of the water. Sadly it broke the line and we were sent home with out getting a single fish to the boat. We did however get to see some dolphins, flying fish and a sea turtle while we were out.
Did you know that on the other side of Lovers beach is Divorce beach? We now know that! We spent the next day on a glass bottom boat getting a tour of the famous arch and that whole area. We saw alot of cool fish and also some sea lions. Oh boy do they stink! We were lucky enough to get up close to a rock where one was sun bathing. It made for a great day of picture taking and hanging out on the beach to watch the sunset that night.

The day before we left we went on a booze cruise. They took us on a boat around lovers beach and then on to a snorkeling spot about 40 minutes away.
On the way to the spot we got to see a few whales jumping out of the water. Sadly all we could catch was the tail end on camera!
It was super hot this day and we couldn't wait to get in the water. Once we got there we all piled out of the boat in to a roped off area to go explore. I don't usually like to think about any fish swimming around me and this was no exception. Every time one swam up out of no where it made me squeal and with Lisa next to me squealing and laughing with me it was quite entertaining.
Later that night we ate a great local place and enjoyed a great night together!
On the last day we were all sad to go and hoped that something would happen that would make us have to stay longer! We had a great time in Cabo and hope to go back soon. On the flight back David, Kurt and I were all supposed to sit in the same row, but the flight was light and we could all spread out. Kurt ended up in his own row which was good seeing as he had a whole box of stuff to spread out with. We also learned that as long as you got ahead of Kurt in the security line you will make your flight! Kurt.... could be questionable! ;)
Until next time....

Move those feet...

Who would think in March that it would be warm enough to go boondocking up in the mountains and not freeze to death? Well- this past weekend we lucked out!

I never get sick of this view!

Of course this view wasn't too shabby either...
I love being able to go out and take a hike in the middle of nowhere with out any trails and having a hubby who just "knows" how to get back to the starting point! The hard part is just keeping up with him- I swear he's half mountain goat and can out walk, climb, hike or run anyone even after months of not really working out or doing much! UGH!! I need to get into shape! Even the dog ran quadruple what I did and he didn't stop until we got in the truck!Well, except for any patch of snow that was big enough for him to roll around in!

No good bye, just see you laters....

Keater Bug is now one! We got to celebrate with Tyler and Katie, Keaton's 1st birthday before they left for California. Keater was most definitely David's little buddy!!
We always joked that I liked him first- David was afraid to hold him at first and before they left he preferred to hang out with David! NOT FAIR!! The little stinker even teased us with the hopes of seeing him walk before they left- that was the deal- walk or you can't leave yet!
He sure did like his cake!
I can't believe that we have only been friends for just over a year because it feels like a life time. We met them when Katie was just 4 weeks pregnant with Keaton. We have watched her 2 boys grow and believe it or not having Keaton around had changed David's opinion about how soon he wanted kids.
When we met he was talking about filing an extension to our 5 year plan, but now that number has been greatly decreased! :)
We can't thank them enough for their friendship and we have been changed forever!
So there were no good byes just see you later....
